What Is the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC)?

The Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) is a mandatory pre-arrival immigration declaration introduced by the Malaysia Immigration Department. It replaces the previous paper-based arrival card (IMM 26) and is for all foreign nationals entering Malaysia — regardless of nationality, visa type, or purpose of visit.

The Malaysia e-arrival card (MDAC) must be completed online within 3 days before arrival. This requirement applies to all entry points — KLIA, KLIA2, Penang International Airport, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Johor Bahru, Langkawi, and all land and sea crossings.

The Malaysia MDAC online form collects personal details, passport information, travel dates, mode of transport, and accommodation details to streamline immigration processing and enhance border security. Failure to complete your Malaysia Digital Arrival Card registration may result in delays or denied entry at immigration checkpoints.

Important: The Malaysia Digital Arrival Card is a separate requirement from the Malaysia eVisa. If your nationality requires a visa, you will need both — the eVisa for entry permission and the MDAC as your pre-arrival declaration.

Who Needs the Malaysia MDAC?

All foreign nationals entering Malaysia must complete the MDAC — including tourists, business travelers, students, transit passengers, and long-stay visitors entering by air, sea, or land. Malaysian citizens and permanent residents are exempt.

Malaysia Digital Arrival Card — Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about the Malaysia MDAC requirements, application process, and fee.

Is the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card mandatory for all visitors?

Yes. The Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) is mandatory for all foreign nationals entering Malaysia. This includes tourists, business travelers, students, and transit visitors arriving by air, sea, or land. It must be completed within 3 days before your arrival date.

How far in advance should I apply for MDAC Malaysia?

The MDAC Malaysia application window opens 3 days (72 hours) before your scheduled arrival. You can apply anytime within this window — we recommend completing it at least 24 hours before departure to allow time for processing and confirmation.

Is MDAC the same as a Malaysia eVisa?

No. The Malaysia eVisa is a travel authorization for certain nationalities to enter Malaysia. The MDAC (Malaysia Digital Arrival Card) is a separate pre-arrival declaration for all foreign visitors, including those who hold an eVisa or are visa-exempt. You may need both.

What happens if I don't fill the Malaysia MDAC before arrival?

Failing to complete the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card before your arrival may cause significant delays at immigration. In some cases, airlines may deny boarding if MDAC is not completed. Always complete your MDAC registration before traveling to Malaysia.

Can I apply for MDAC for my family or travel group?

Yes. You can include up to 10 travelers in a single MDAC application. Each traveler must provide their individual passport details, travel dates, and accommodation information. The service fee of USD 35 applies per person.

What documents do I need for the Malaysia MDAC form?

You need: a valid passport (minimum 6 months validity), confirmed flight / transport details (flight number, vessel name, or vehicle registration), your Malaysia accommodation address (hotel name or host address), and an active email address for confirmation.
