Do You Need a Malaysia Transit Visa?
A Malaysia Transit Visa is required for passengers of certain nationalities who are passing through Malaysia en route to another destination. Whether you need one depends on your nationality, the duration of your layover, and whether you are leaving the international transit zone.
Many nationalities are exempt from needing a transit visa for short layovers at Malaysian airports (KLIA, KLIA2, Penang International). However, passengers from specific countries must obtain a transit visa even if they do not leave the airport premises.
If your layover exceeds 120 hours (5 days), or if you wish to leave the airport and explore Malaysia during your transit, you will need either a Transit Visa or a regular Malaysia eVisa, depending on your nationality.
