What is the Malaysia eVisa?

The Malaysia eVisa is an electronic travel authorisation issued by the Malaysian Immigration Department that allows eligible foreign nationals to enter Malaysia for tourism, business, or social visits. It is applied for entirely online — no embassy visit, no postal application, and no in-person interview is required.

Once approved, the eVisa is sent to the applicant's email address and must be printed or saved digitally for presentation at immigration checkpoints upon arrival in Malaysia.

Important Rules & Tips

01
Apply on the correct passport — Your eVisa is linked to the passport submitted. Renewing your passport requires a new eVisa.
02
Apply well in advance — Apply at least 2 weeks before travel to allow time for queries or re-applications.
03
No employment permitted — The eVisa does not authorise paid work. Working without a permit is a serious offence.
04
Approved checkpoints only — Enter through KLIA, KLIA2, Penang Airport, or other designated ports of entry.
05
Stay cannot be extended — Overstaying the 30-day limit is an offence and may result in fines, detention, or a re-entry ban.
06
Immigration has final authority — An approved eVisa does not guarantee entry. Always carry all supporting documents.
